There are a few ways to do this:
Featured Category
Hero a category with featured title, product name, product description and product image at the top of the digital menu each time a customer scans on.
On me&u 1.0 you would have been familiar with a 'Featured Product.' Feat. Product was always limited to one item whereas an advantage of creating a Featured Category on 2.0 is that you can feature multiple items - food & drinks.
To set this up on 2.0, see below:
Steps
1. Create a new category e.g. ‘Specials’ or ‘Highlights’
2. Train venue team to add/remove items from the rest of the menu to that category via the ‘Add to a section’ on a daily or adhoc basis (see below)
Idea: use an emoji like the sparkles emoji (✨) to make the category/product stand out more!
Multiple Specials Categories
Another approach is to create different ‘Specials’ categories for each day of the week which are then hidden and unhidden based on their assigned timeblock.
Note: ‘timeblocks’ in 2.0 are the same as ‘services’ in 1.0
This would allow you to promote different daily special items at different times of the day. For example, in the morning you could showcase a food item then at night-time showcase a wine/cocktail. To achieve this, you would need to select timeblocks for the items when you want them to appear. Click here to learn more.
E.g.
-
Category Name: Steak Night Monday
Item Name: Rump 250g (this would be set up using timeblocks to only display on a Monday 6pm-11pm) -
Category Name: Parmy Night Tuesday
Item Name: Traditional Parmy (this would be set up using time-blocks to only display on a Tuesday 6pm-11pm)
Positives: the team won’t have to manually add/remove daily special items into one category which can be finicky.
Pop-Up Notification
Use the new Pop-up Notification feature to let the customer know about the product when they scan the QR codes on your tiles (note: tiles are known as beacons in 1.0). Click here to learn more.
You could also use the Pop-up feature to let customers know where they can find your featured items now. Example:
