There are two ways to create menu items and modifiers in me&u 2.0, depending on how your venue’s POS integration is set up.
1) POS Sync (Bulk Operations / Imported from POS)
Most POS integrations are fully or partially synced with me&u.
This means:
Your POS database is brought into manage in intemediary page called: Bulk Operations
Menu items can be imported directly from Bulk Operations
Linked modifiers in the POS may also sync automatically (integration dependent)
A scheduled sync keeps item data updated from the POS
Note: Items must exist in your POS back office before they can be imported into me&u.
2) Manual Menu Build
You can manually create menu items and modifiers directly in Manage.
This is commonly used when:
You want full control over menu structure and upsells
Your integration does not sync modifiers
You are an H&L integrated venue with Price Sync (items may be imported or manually created, but modifiers must be built manually in Manage)
Option A: Manually create a Menu Item
Step 1: Navigate to Menu Items
Go to Your Menu > Menu Items
Click into the category where you want to add the item
(e.g. “Main Menu” if you only have one category)Click Create new Menu Item at the bottom of the section
Step 2: Fill in the item details
Name
Enter the name of your menu item (e.g. Nonna’s Iconic Spaghetti Bolognese).
Description
Add a short description. You can copy this from your physical or POS menu.
Display Price
Enter the item price as a whole number (e.g. $10 = 10).
Price in Cents (Important)
Add two extra zeros to match the actual charge amount.
Example:
$10 → 1000
$12.50 → 1250
This is the price customers will be charged.
Type
Choose one of the following:
Menu Item (with photo)
Menu Item without photo
Info (non-orderable items such as dietary tags or surcharges)
Category
Select the appropriate category (e.g. Main, Drinks, Alcoholic Drink).

Enter this only if you have a POS integration
Leave blank if not integrated

Leave ON unless the item should not be orderable.

Leave OFF unless this item is an upgrade (e.g. bottle of wine nested under glass of wine).
Step 3: Add Dietary & Filter Tags
Click Dietary Information
Add dietary tags if applicable (e.g. GF, VG, V, GFO)
You can create new tags if they don’t already exist
Keep abbreviations short so they don’t clash with the price display
Add Filter Tags (e.g. Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free)
These help guests easily filter menu options.
Step 4: Finalise the item
Click Create
Re-open the newly created item
Click View item modifiers & upsells to attach modifiers or upsells
