Changing your internet service provider or router can disrupt your printer's connection, but with a simple reset and reconfiguration, you can restore its functionality quickly and efficiently.
1. Obtain the printer's new IP Address:
- Connect the printer to the new network using an Ethernet cable.
- Yes, simply plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the printer’s Ethernet port and the other end into an active port on your router or switch.
-
Perform a Self Print Test
- Turn on the printer while holding the feed button for 5 seconds.
2. Check IP Address and Default Gateway:
Examine the printer’s IP address from the self-test printout. Pay attention to the first three separated numbers of the IP address. These numbers should match the first three separated numbers of the Gateway.
-
If the first three separated numbers of the IP address match the first three separated numbers of the default gateway, proceed to Step 3 below.
-
If they don’t match, a factory reset is necessary. This is because the printer might not be aligned with the new network settings. A factory reset will move the printer back to DHCP mode and allow it to obtain the correct network settings automatically. Follow this article on How to perform Factory Reset
