Printer groups control where your menu items print — to the kitchen, bar, or other stations. Think of them like folders that organise your items so they print in the right place.
You’ll set these up after your printer is already showing as Online in Manage.
What are Printer Groups?
A printer group is a collection of menu items that get printed together at a specific printer (or printers).
For example:
-
A Kitchen group might print mains and sides to the kitchen printer
-
A Bar group might print drinks to the bar printer
Every menu item must be assigned to exactly one printer group.
💡 You can link multiple printers to one group — e.g. two bar printers receiving the same drink orders.
Step 1: Create printer groups
-
Go to your venue in Manage
-
Navigate to Batching & Printers > Printer Groups
-
Click Add Printer Group
-
Give the group a name — e.g. Kitchen, Bar, Coffee Station
-
Click Link Printers
-
Select the physical printer(s) you’d like this group to print to
-
Click Link
Please note:
When you add your first printer, we automatically create a Default printer group. Any items not assigned to a specific group will be routed through this default.
❗ If you rename or delete the default group, the system will use the first group alphabetically as fallback.❗
Step 2: Assign menu items to printer groups
You can assign menu items using either the Bulk Operations method (great for multiple items) or the Manual Assignment method (for one-off edits).
Bulk Operations method
If you are going to assign a printer group into multiple items, you may assign it through Bulk Operations:
- Go to Your Menu Menu Items
- Select Bulk Operations
- You may search for the item name or you may add filter and select column to filter by (eg. Category - Main, Sides starter appetiser, Non alcoholic drink)
- Tick the item Select Assign printer group
Manual Assignment method
You may also manually assign a printer group to the menu item:
- Go to Your Menu Menu Items
- Select the Category
- Select the desired menu item and scroll down to Ordering and POS
- Select the printer group
- Select Update
