When sending out email campaigns, there are times when an email will 'bounce'. Sometimes it's due to an email address being entered incorrectly, a full inbox or a restrictive DMARC. This automation will help by automatically sending an SMS with a form to gather the correct email. This can be useful for handling input errors and as a friendly reminder.
Before you setup the automation, you'll need to create a form with an Email field. For help setting up forms, check out the article Forms Overview.
- Once logged in to your account, select the + button and choose Create an automation
- Select Blank Automation
- In the right hand menu, select the arrow next to Triggers to expand the section.
- Drag Email Bounced onto the Trigger area
- Optional: Select a specific campaign. By default it will trigger on any campaign sent.
- In the right hand menu, select the arrow next to Criteria to expand the section.
- Drag Contact Field onto the Trigger Criteria/Action area.
- Select the first field and select Email Subscription and select the second field and select is unsubscribed. Select Save.
- In the right hand menu, select the arrow next to Actions to expand the section.
- Drag SMS over to the Trigger Criteria/Action area under the Yes option.
- Type in your SMS, including your form link to capture your contact's email.
- Choose a frequency - we recommend Monthly.
- Ensure Ignore Opt-out status is unchecked.
- Add the template to an existing folder or create a new one called 'Update Details Automation'. Select Save.
- Scroll back up to the Criteria menu and drag Webform Submitted under the SMS action.
- Select the form that you created for this automation.
- Scroll back down to the Action menu and drag Resend Email under the Webform Submitted Criteria.
- You can leave this blank if you don't want to make any changes to the original campaign email.
