Editing a Contact Field allows you to update the field name and, where applicable, the selectable options (for example, options in Multiple Choice or Single Select fields). This helps keep your contact database accurate, consistent, and aligned with your team’s data needs.
If you need to change the field type, you’ll need to delete the existing field and create a new one using the correct type.
- Note: Users with Edit access can only update the field name and option selections. The field type itself cannot be modified once created. To use a different field type, delete the existing field and create a new one.
💡 Tip: For help choosing the right field type, see Field Type Descriptions
🔐 Permissions required
(see Roles & Permissions Overview for details)
- Who can Edit Contact Fields: Account Owners, Administrators, or users with Custom Roles that include Edit Contact Field permission
