Contact Field Types allow you to customise the kind of data stored against each contact in your database. Each field type defines the format, input style, and behaviour of the data you collect, ensuring consistency across your account and making segmentation, reporting, and automation more accurate.
Understanding field types helps you capture the right kind of information about your contacts. Choosing the correct field type improves data accuracy, makes filtering and targeting easier, and ensures your campaigns use the right contact details every time.
🔐 Permissions Required
(see Roles & Permissions Overview for details)
Only Account Owners or users with custom roles that include permission to create or edit contact fields can manage field types.
If you don’t have access, you’ll only be able to view the existing Contact Fields list under Profile > Settings > Contact Fields.
💡 Tip: Before creating a new field, review your existing ones to avoid duplicates or mismatched data types.
🔍 Where to Find Field Types
Go to My Profile (top right corner) > Settings > Contact Fields to view or edit field types in your account. If you don't have edit access, you can only view and rearrange the field types.
