Autocomplete keeps your Live Orders page tidy by moving orders from Live to Completed automatically once your POS or printer has accepted them. This article explains what autocomplete does, which ordering types it applies to, and how to turn it on or off in the Manage platform.
Use it if you want to change how dine-in orders move through Live Orders, for example if you'd rather complete orders manually.
Before you start
- Autocomplete is set separately for each ordering type
- It's turned on by default for Dine-in only
- Pickup, Counter pickup and other ordering types have a ready step that sends an SMS to the guest to collect their order, so autocomplete is off for these
- Autocomplete only runs when an order reaches your POS or printer successfully. Red (failed) orders are never autocompleted, so they stay in Live until you resolve them.
How autocomplete works
When autocomplete is on, a dine-in order shows briefly in Live, then moves to Completed as soon as your POS or printer accepts it. Your staff don't need to complete it on the Live Orders page.
When autocomplete is off, dine-in orders stay in Live until a staff member marks them as complete.
ℹ️ Note, Dine-in orders don't have a ready step because your staff take the food and drinks to the table. Autocomplete simply saves you the extra click of completing each order.
⚠️ Warning, Red orders are never autocompleted. If an order shows in red on Live Orders, it hasn't reached your POS or printer and still needs your attention.
Turn autocomplete on or off
- In the Manage platform, go to Orders > Dine-in Settings
- Find Enable autocomplete?
3. Toggle it on or off
4. Select Save
💡 Tip, If you want to manually move dine-in orders from Live to Completed yourself, turn autocomplete off.
FAQ
Why do my dine-in orders disappear from Live straight away? Autocomplete is on. Once your POS or printer accepts the order, it moves straight to Completed. You can find it there at any time.
Can I turn autocomplete on for pickup or counter pickup orders? Autocomplete is set per ordering type and is only on by default for dine-in. Pickup and counter pickup orders use a ready step that sends an SMS to your guest, so they need to be moved through Live Orders by your staff.
Will a red order be autocompleted? No. Autocomplete only runs when an order successfully reaches your POS or printer. Red orders stay in Live until you resolve them.
I'd rather complete each dine-in order manually. Can I do that? Yes. Turn autocomplete off in Orders > Dine-in Settings and dine-in orders will stay in Live until a staff member completes them.
