Use modifiers to create options that allow your guests to remove, add or change your menu items. This article will teach you how.
Modifiers allow customers the opportunity to add, remove or modify menu items for their order. Some POS systems call them variants or options.
To apply modifiers to one or more of your menu items, they must be collected together in a modifier group. The modifier group will control the different ordering rules and how the modifier options are shown to your customer.
Common use cases:
- Add items e.g. adding extra bacon or a hash brown to a burger
- Remove items e.g. remove the bacon from a salad
- Make a choice e.g. select the preferred garnish in a gin and tonic
- Cooking styles e.g. choose between bleu, rare, medium, well done; or scrambled, fried and poached.
