Understanding modifier groups in more detail
- Name: This is what customers will see when asked to select options in the group. The name should be concise but you can also have fun with it e.g. "Anything extra?"
- Is selection required?: If the customer must make a selection for the order to be placed, make this required. Otherwise you can leave it as optional.
- Select type: Set to multi if customers can select more than one item on the list.
- Min and Max quantity: The minimum and maximum number of options a customer can select. Ignore this if the select type is single. For example when ordering a dish where between 1 and 3 different flavours of curry can be chosen.
-
Display: Controls how the group's modifier options are displayed to the customer.
- Collapsed: The options are hidden until the customer clicks on the drop down to reveal them. It is ideally used to make the menu item look neater. It is a good option when the choices are usually conditional e.g. selecting dietary requirements.
- Expanded: A visible list where the customer can choose what they want and select from the relevant options. Recommended if the selection is required.
- Hidden: The modifier is hidden from the menu but is visible when the receipt has been printed in the kitchen. Commonly used for set menus.
- Ordering type(s): This filters which ordering type you would like the modifier group to appear. Select dine-in if you want it to appear in the dine-in ordering type only. Leave it blank if you want it to appear in all ordering types.
How to rearrange the order groups appear on a menu item
The order in which the modifier groups appear on menu items can also be customised. Note these steps are unique to each item, and must be applied individually everywhere you'd like the change to take place.

- Click the View item modifiers and upsells (located at the top).
- Click the Position button in the top corner next to the Modifiers heading
- Click and drag the Drag icon next to modifier groups to move them around between the groups.
- You can also click and drag the Drag icon next to the modifier options to reposition them within their groups.
- Click the Position button again to save the changes.
How to hide a modifier group from customers
