Introduction to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security process that adds an extra layer of protection to your account. In addition to your regular password, 2FA requires a second form of verification, such as a code sent to your mobile device or an authentication app.
This additional step ensures that even if your password is compromised, unauthorised users cannot access your account. By enabling 2FA, you significantly enhance the security of your personal and sensitive information, making it much harder for cybercriminals to breach your accounts.
Enabling 2FA on your profile
2FA is managed on a per-user basis rather than on the whole account. When 2FA is enabled on your user profile then, you will be prompted to specify your 2FA code on login for any accounts linked to your profile.
To enable / manage 2FA, login to the platform, hover over your name in the top-right corner and select "My Profile"
Scroll down and click the "Enable Multifactor Authentication" toggle.
Once enabled, you'll be presented with a QR Code. Use the authenticator app on your mobile device to scan the QR code. Once done, the authenticator app should successfully add the profile and provide you with a rotating 6 digit code.
To verify correct setup, enter the 6 digit code from the app in the "Authentication Code" field and click "Verify".
Once verified, 2FA is now enabled on your profile and you'll be prompted to provide the code for each login.
Authenticator Apps
Any authenticator app will work. If you don't have an app already installed, we recommend Google Authenticator as it is available on a range of different devices & browsers. The app is available via the various app stores and is free to use.
