This guide shows you how to register your SMS Sender ID from the Connect platform. Once it's approved, your venue name shows in the "From" field when guests receive your SMS. This applies to Australian venues only, as every Sender ID used in Australia must be on the ACMA Sender ID Register.
Before you start
- Available for Australian venues only
- You'll need one person to verify the registration, either an officer of the business (e.g. a director) or someone with a Letter of Authorisation (LOA) signed by an officer
- That person needs the myID app set up, to log in to the Australian Business Register (ABR) and to confirm the ACMA email
- Anyone with access to your Connect account can fill in the registration while it's in draft, including your agency
Topics
- Start your registration
- Prove your right to use the Sender ID
- Add proof of business
- Verify the authorised person
- Submit and confirm with ACMA
Start your registration
- Navigate to the Connect Settings:
- Go to Settings > SMS Sender ID in the Connect platform
- Click +, then Add Sender ID
- Enter the Sender ID you want to register.
Prove your right to use the Sender ID
Under How will you prove your right to use this Sender ID?, select the option that matches your Sender ID:
- Company extract: the name matches your official company registration
- Australian Business Names Register: the name is registered on the ABN Register
- .au domain: you own a matching Australian domain
- Australian trademark: the name is in the Australian Trade Mark Registry
- International trademark: the name is in an international registry
- Brand or Subsidiary: you have a certificate proving you own the matching brand
Add proof of business
Upload a document that shows your business number and the name of a business officer.
Option 1: ABR contacts screenshot (free, ABN holders only)
- Go to the Australian Business Register
- Under Online Services, select Update your ABN details
- Log in with your myID app
- Select Update ABN record
- Click the Contacts tab
- Take a screenshot of the page
Then click Choose file and upload your document.
⚠️ Warning, The ABR screenshot must be the Contacts tab showing the officer's name, not the ABN summary page.
Verify the authorised person
- Under How would you like to verify your authority to register this Sender ID?, select one:
- Company Officer ID Verification if the person's name appears on your proof of business
- Authorised Representative ID Verification if it doesn't (you'll also need to upload an LOA signed by an officer)
- Under Upload a photo ID, select the ID type: Driver License, National ID, Keypass ID, Passport or Residency Permit
- Upload a photo of the ID, or capture it live with your camera
ℹ️ Note, The ID you upload should belong to the same person named as the contact on the registration. If they don't match, the registration can stall at the ACMA step.
Submit and confirm with ACMA
- Submit your registration
- Twilio checks your details, then sends the registration to ACMA
- ACMA emails the named contact, who logs in to ACMA Assist with myID and confirms the registration
- You'll get the final approval by email, roughly two weeks after the registration reaches ACMA
Once approved, your Sender ID appears in the From dropdown when you set up an SMS campaign.
💡 Tip, Make sure the contact has myID set up before you submit, so they can confirm the ACMA email straight away.
