Make items unavailable so customers cannot order them while they’re out of stock or discontinued for the season.
Who this applies to
- Lightspeed O and Square: Availability is synced automatically from your POS into me&u. Update availability in your POS, and me&u will reflect it.
- All other POS‑synced integrations 👉 Use the steps below to turn items off in me&u.
Before you start
- Decide whether you want to turn off a single item or multiple items quickly.
- Remember you’ll need to turn items back on when they’re available again.
Option 1: Turn off a single menu item
- Go to Your Menu > Menu Items
- Find your item:
- Use search, or
- Navigate into the relevant menu category and select the item.
- In the item details, scroll down to toggles.
- Toggle OFF both:
- Is available for purchase
- Is visible on the menu
- Confirm the item shows a “Not listed” ribbon. This means the item is hidden and cannot be purchased.
Option 2: Turn off multiple items quickly (eye icon called Availability)
- Go to Your Menu and open the menu category that contains the items.
- Click the eye icon to open Availability controls on the list.
- For each item you want to turn off, toggle OFF:
- Shopping cart icon = Is available for purchase
- Eye icon = Is visible on the menu
Verify affected items now show the “Not listed” ribbon.
Re‑enable items
- Repeat the same steps and toggle ON both Is available for purchase and Is visible on the menu. The “Not listed” ribbon will disappear.
Use filters to quickly surface only the items you’ve turned off, then re‑enable them in bulk or one by one.
- Go to Your Menu > Menu Items
- Open the category you want to review
- Click on eye icon Availability
- Click on Filter: Unavailable
- Toggle ON
- Is available for purchase = Shopping Cart ✅
- Is visible on the menu = Eye Icon ✅
- Review the filtered list. Items will typically will not show the “Not listed” ribbon.
Tip
- Clear the filter to return to your full menu once you’re done.
Important notes
- You must come back and toggle these back ON when the items are available again.
- For Lightspeed O and Square, manage availability in your POS. me&u will update automatically.
