What is the smart suggestions feature?

Overview

Accordingly to our data, around 58% of live products on me&u menus do not currently have upsell configured. These venues are missing out on the opportunity to increase their upsell revenue (and total revenue). To help address this gap, we have built the smart suggestion feature.


The aim of this feature is to suggest an upsell group to only the menu items that doesn't already have a manually configured upsell. These suggested upsell group are refreshed daily and will take guest transaction trends & seasonality into consideration. All smart suggestion upsell groups are under a section called "Perfectly paired with" in the guest experience (see screenshot below).

How to turn on/off smart suggestions for the whole venue?

Smart suggestion can be easily turned on/off in manage with the simple steps below:

  1. Go to Manage
  2. Go to venue upsells configurations: https://manage.meandu.app/venues/your-venue-id/upsells
  3. Check and update the smart suggestion status via the toggle (the changes to the menu will take a couple of minutes to reflect):

If the smart suggestions is ON, you will see the "Active" mode like below.

If the smart suggestions is OFF, the venue will see the "Inactive" mode like below.

How to turn off smart suggestions for one or some of the menu items?

The (smart suggestions) model will not recommend any upsells to menu items that already have upsell configured manually. To overwrite the (upsell) smart suggestions for one item, you will need to configure upsell for those menu items (that you wish to turn off smart suggestions) in manage with the simple steps below:

  1. Go to Manage
  2. Go to venue upsells configurations: https://manage.meandu.app/venues/your-venue-id/upsells
  3. Check if the smart suggestions toggle is ON
  4. If smart suggestions toggle is ON, then create or modify a current manual upsell group to add the menu item which you want to remove smart suggestions
  5. If the menu item have a manual upsell group linked to it will overwrite the smart suggestions
 


How to turn on smart suggestions for one or some of the menu items?

If you wish to have the (smart suggestions) model taking care of menu items' upsells then follow the simple steps below:

  1. Go to Manage
  2. Go to venue upsells configurations: https://manage.meandu.app/venues/your-venue-id/upsells
  3. Check if the smart suggestions toggle is ON
  4. Delete the manual upsell groups, or modify the upsell group to remove any menu item linked. Any item inside those manual upsell groups will be tagged to use smart suggestions
  5. After 24 hours the (Upsell) smart suggestions will appear for those items
