In Connect, you can delete a channel you've set up but no longer need, as long as it hasn't been sent. This article shows you how to remove a channel from a campaign. If you want to understand channel stages and why sent channels can't be deleted, read Understanding channels in Connect first.
Before you start
- You'll need access to Connect with permission to edit campaigns.
- You can only delete a channel that hasn't been sent. A channel that has already sent is kept as a record and can't be removed.
- If the channel is scheduled, cancel the scheduled send first. This returns it to draft, where it can be deleted.
Delete a channel
- Find the campaign you want to edit, using the campaign list, folder view, or search.
- Click three dots on the right side of the screen.
- A pop-up appears listing options such as Statistics, Delete, Download as HTML, Duplicate, Preview.
-
Click Delete.
-
Confirm you want to delete the channel.
⚠️ Warning: Deleting a channel can't be undone. The channel and its setup are removed from the campaign.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Delete option on the channel | The channel has already been sent | Sent channels can't be deleted, they're kept as a record of what went out |
| Can't delete a scheduled channel | Scheduled channels must be cancelled first | Cancel the scheduled send to return the channel to draft, then delete it |
| Deleted the wrong channel | Deletion can't be reversed | Add a new channel and rebuild it (see Add a channel to a campaign) |
FAQ
Can I delete a channel that's already been sent?
No. Once a channel has sent, it's kept as a record and can't be deleted.
How do I delete a scheduled channel?
Cancel the scheduled send first. The channel returns to draft, where you can delete it.
Can I get a deleted channel back?
No. Deletion can't be undone. You'd need to add and rebuild the channel.
Does deleting a channel affect the rest of the campaign?
No. Deleting one channel leaves the campaign and any other channels intact.
When should I use Cancel?
Use Cancel when you need to stop or change a channel that's currently scheduled to send.
Cancelling is the only way to bring a scheduled channel back to draft, so you'd use it whenever you want to edit the content, recipients, or send time of a scheduled channel, reschedule it for a different time, or delete it. Cancel doesn't send anything to your contacts, it clears the recipient list and returns any reserved credits.
