Allow your guests to leave a short note with their order under each item, or with the entire order.
There are two different options when it comes to letting guests leave notes on their order. Guests can leave notes at the order level, or at the individual item level.
Order-level Notes
An Order-level Note can be added by the guest at the checkout. This type of note is submitted with the entire order. If you are using Order Batching, an Order-level Note will print on every docket for a particular Order.
You can customise the text to prompt guests to leave specific information: for example, a description of their car for pick-up orders.
How to enable Order-level Notes
- Go to Orders and choose the Ordering Type you want to configure (e.g. Dine-In Settings, Pickup Settings)
- Scroll down to Order-level Notes
- Update the Order notes field requirement. There are three options to choose from:
- Hidden: The field will not be displayed to guests and they will not be able to leave an Order-level Note
- Optional: The field will display to guests in the checkout and they have the option to leave a note. This is the default option.
- Required: The field will display to guests, and they must included a note before they can submit their order
- Optionally, you may add specific instructions inside the Customise order notes text. By default it will display "Notes".
- Click Save at the bottom of the page
- Repeat these steps for the other Ordering Types
Special Instructions
This functionality is only available for some POSes
Special Instructions are short notes that a guest can leave for an individual menu item. They are restricted to 20 characters, and will print alongside that particular item.
How to enable Special Instructions
- Go to Orders and choose the Ordering Type you want to configure (e.g. Dine-In Settings, Pickup Settings)
- Scroll down to Special Instructions
- Use the toggle to enable Special Instructions
- Click Save
- Repeat these steps for the other Ordering Types
