If you send a test email before launching a campaign and it lands in your spam or junk folder, this is expected behaviour. Test emails and actual campaign sends work differently.
How test emails work
Test emails are sent from the platform's preview address and do not go through the same authentication process as a real campaign send. They are designed for speed — to let you quickly review layout, content, and links — rather than for inbox placement.
Because they are not authenticated against your domain, some email clients will flag them as suspicious and route them to spam.
How campaign emails work
When you send an actual campaign to your contacts, the platform applies domain authentication and IP address routing to give your email the best chance of reaching the inbox. This is separate from how test emails are sent.
What to do
If your test email lands in spam, this does not mean your campaign will also go to spam. You can mark the test email as "not spam" in your inbox, which will help future test emails from the same address reach your primary folder.
Always review your test email for content and layout, then send the actual campaign when you are ready. If your live campaigns are also going to spam (not just your test emails), see our article on why emails go to spam for troubleshooting steps.
